Socks on Saturday

As we're getting ever closer to Christmas, my project pile is spiralling woefully out of control. This, invariably, seems to happen every single year. As socks tend to be the knitted gift request of choice from my family members and friends, I nearly always have an out of control selection of sock projects on the go. At the moment, I'm working on four pairs alongside my bigger knitting/crochet projects (a Christmas jumper, a cardigan, a sock yarn blanket and two crochet blankets). Progress is a little slower than earlier this year due to job changes, and my decision to switch back to mainly top down sock pattens on DPNs, after a period spent working toe ups using the magic loop method on circular needles. It takes a little while to get back up to speed I think! Admittedly, I have also been focusing more on the Christmas jumper for the last couple of weeks as, unlike last year, I'd actually like to have a homemade one ready before Christmas Day!

But anyway, here are my hugely colourful and 'typically me' socky WIPs....

New Beginnings...

It’s been nearly two weeks since my last post, which was meant to happen. During the time I’ve been away, my life has changed drastically as I’ve been offered a full time job in Central London. Since then I’ve had to act very quickly to get all the paperwork done, find a place to live down in London and pack up my life possessions to move out of my parents home for good. Although I’ve moved out several times before whilst to-ing and fro-ing from University, this time my move out is permanent and everything feels so much more final as a result. I can safely say that the emotional and physical stress of moving to take up my first ‘real job’ has been utterly draining and that’s why I’ve been unable post for so long.

Creative Friday: Rainbow Socks!

There’s one thing that you should know about me, which is that I love colour.

I decorate everything in bright, vibrant hues and my wardrobe is scattered with items in almost lurid colour combinations. 

Most particularly, I adore making use of colour in my craft work; the therapeutic motion of knitting and crochet combines perfectly with the cheerful yarns I select.

Out of all of my bright and bouncy projects to date, I don’t think any have quite reached the level of colour present in the Rainbow socks I completed yesterday….
